What is CPD?

  • Continuing professional development (CPD) is the means by which registered people (i.e. Journeyman, Tradesman and Certifying) maintain their knowledge and skills related to their trade. 
  • By maintaining and improving the competence of registered tradespeople, CPD is a valuable tool that assists the Board with their commitment to protect the health and safety of the public. 

 

Do I have to do CPD?

  • If you are a registered person (i.e. Journeyman, Tradesman or Certifying), completing CPD is a mandatory condition to relicense each year.

 

What will happen if I don't do the mandatory CPD training?

  • It is likely that a new licence will not be issued to you if you have not completed your annual CPD training.

2020 CPD postponed

Both the roadshow events and the following online availability of CPD will resume again in 2021


In light of the growing public health concern and potential for community transmission of Covid-19, the Board has announced today that its 44 nationwide CPD roadshow events will be postponed until 2021. 

While CPD is essential for all practitioners to maintain the knowledge and skills related to their trade,  the Board's ongoing commitment to safeguarding public health has prompted the suspension of this year’s training.

The decision not to proceed was made following a discussion with principal sponsor MICO and other CPD Roadshow representatives. This decision has not been made lightly. 

We all have a responsibility to our industry and to the greater community to do our part to minimise the risk associated with spreading the virus.

What this means is that when it comes time for you to relicense in April 2021 you will not have to prove CPD attendance.
