Q&A's : Why CPD?

What is CPD?

  • Continuing professional development (CPD) is the means by which registered people (i.e. Journeyman, Tradesman and Certifying) maintain their knowledge and skills related to their trade.
  • By maintaining and improving the competence of registered tradespeople, CPD is a valuable tool that assists the Board with their commitment to protect the health and safety of the public.

Do I have to do CPD?

  • If you are a registered person (i.e. Journeyman, Tradesman or Certifying), completing CPD is a mandatory condition to relicense each year.

What will happen if I don't do the mandatory CPD training?

  • It is likely that a new licence will not be issued to you if you have not completed your annual CPD training.

Do you need to do your CPD to renew your licence this year in April?

No, CPD was postponed in 2020 due to Covid-19. This will not be a requirement when renewing your licence this April for the 2021/2022 year.

But - you do need to do CPD roadshow or CPD online during 2021 to be able to renew your licence in April 2022.

Take a look at the link below and book your course.  Note, the order in which the sessions are running has changed from previous years.
