Gas experts say a suspended gas bottle seen on The Block NZ set in Kingsland, Auckland, is non-compliant for a number of reasons. The Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board says it has been made aware of this incorrect installation and will be following up the issue.

The Block NZ: Gas experts slam The Block NZ's non-compliance

A large gas bottle suspended from the side of a building has raised questions about safety on the set of The Block NZ: Firehouse.

The bottle was spotted during a taste-test challenge screened this week, where the teams had to guess the ingredients of a stew cooked by host Mark Richardson. It appeared to be connected to a gas water heater. A second gas bottle was sitting on the ground near the tasting table.

Martin Sawyers, chief executive of the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board, said there is no regulation that allows for this type of gas installation to be done on a temporary basis.
