Consideration of submissions and Board decisions

Update

Thanks to the 63 submitters who took the opportunity to tell us what you thought of the Board’s proposal. Following consideration of the submissions received, the Board has decided to proceed to seek approval from the Minister for Building and Construction to publish its proposed Gazette notices to make participation in competence reviews as a standard term and condition of all practicing licences.

However, the Board will not be going ahead with its proposed random competence review programme, that would have involved 150 tradespeople being reviewed each year. They were not satisfied that there was sufficient buy in from the industry to make this programme a success.

Consultation on supervision requirements

The Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board is currently reviewing its supervision policy. The Board wishes to establish appropriate expectations and limits around supervision that will ensure that supervision undertaken in the industry is legally robust, appropriate and practical, and meets the needs of the Board, tradespeople and the public.

As part of that review, the Board would like to hear from tradespeople and stakeholders about key aspects of supervision.

Submissions can be made using the submission form in the consultation document or by completing the online submission form. Submissions must be received by 5pm Friday, 18 October 2013.
