The requirement for all registered gasfitters to demonstrate competence on an annual basis through completion of Board approved CPD programmes has been in place for several years.

The CPD requirement is now extended to plumbers and drainlayers who will have to gain the required points prior to 1 April 2012 in order to renew their licence.

UPDATE FOLLOWING RECENT CONSULTATION

Following a public consultation on CPD, the Board, at its meeting on 6 December 2011, considered the submissions received.

The Board has decided to modify the scheme to incorporate many of the suggestions contained in the submissions received. A new round of consultation will then be undertaken.

In the meantime, the current CPD scheme remains in force. However, people who have not met their CPD requirements by March 2012 will not be prevented from relicensing at that time. Instead, they will need to have completed the current year’s point’s balance in addition to the requirement for next year by 31 March 2013.
