Frequently Asked Questions - Gasfitter Auditing

How often do gas audits occur and who is audited?
Gas audits are currently completed on a biennial basis. This means that once every two years you will be required to undergo a site audit and an interview audit. Only certifying gasfitters are required to undertake gas audits.

What is the cost of a gas audit?
The Board will meet the cost of the biennial audit from the sale of gasfitting certificates.

What if I fail my gas audit?
The cost of a re-audit for a failed audit is $135.00 including GST. You must meet the requirements stipulated on the re-audit notice in the time allocated, which is 7 days, 28 days or 3 months.

What should I do if I have to cancel my audit?
Please contact the Board for the Auditors contact details.

What if I have let my certifying gasfitter licence lapse?
If you have not passed a biennial audit within the last two years, because you have not been licensed, you must pass an interview with the auditors before you can renew your licence.
