Frequently asked questions

How do I make a submission on a consultation document?

The Board encourages respondents to forward comments and submissions electronically. However paper-based submissions are accepted by the Board.

Please include the following information in your submission:

  • your name (and authorisation number, if applicable), postal address, telephone and fax numbers
  • your organisation, if applicable.

Please note that your submission is public information. Submissions may be the subject of requests for information under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA). The OIA specifies that information is to be made available to requesters unless there are sufficient grounds for withholding it, as set out in the OIA. Submitters may wish to indicate grounds for withholding specific information contained in their submission, such as when the information is commercially sensitive or if they wish personal information to be withheld. Any decision to withhold information requested under the OIA is reviewable by the Ombudsman.

How long are consultation opportunities open for submissions?

Generally consultations are open for public submission for 30 working days.

What happens to my submission?

Submissions and Board responses will be collated in a 'Review of Submissions' document. This document will be made publically available on the Board’s website.

Who can make a submission?

Any individual, group of individuals, organisations or political entities affected by, or interested in, a decision; or with expertise or interest in the issues concerned.
